Hayduke Trail – Day 1
March 14, 2023
Miles Today/ Total: 3.2 / 3.2
I had an early start this morning when my daughter, Haley, picked me up at 4:30am to take me to the Airport. The first leg of my trip was to Denver and I was there by 7:00 am. With almost a 6 hour layover I was glad to meet up with Ken when he arrived about 9:00 am.
Our next flight got us to Moab about 2:00 and we arranged our gear, filled up water bottles and were heading to the trail by about 2:30. The Hayduke trail starts 6 miles from the airport across state and BLM lands. We set our bearings for Tower Arch and took off down the road and across the desert.
The route across the desert was full of ups and downs and we reached Tower Arch about 5:00. We took our official start pictures and then headed down the Hayduke Trail. The trail followed a 4×4 road across the desert and we found a camping around 6:30 for the night.
We setup our tents and ate dinner and then turned into our tents for the night.
