Te Araroa Trail – Day 121

Not having a zero day in quite some time I was looking forward to sleeping in this morning. I didn’t wake up until 7:45am and it felt great to sleep in.
Shaun and I got around slowly and headed to town to eat breakfast. There were lots of restaurant choices in Wānaka and we selected one close to the hostel in the center of town. The food was great – eggs, bacon, sausage, grilled tomato, mushrooms, potatoes, and a scone. It was delicious. I ordered a flat white to drink instead of my normal black coffee.
After breakfast we stopped by the outdoor gear shop again so I could pick up a few things and then headed to the grocery store for our resupply. Back at the hostel I repacked my food for the next section and spent some time uploading my blog post.
I had a lazy afternoon around the hostel and spent some time looking at tourist options on the South Island for after I finish the Te Araroa.
For dinner I walked back down to the food truck area and order a pork burrito. It was really good, but I underestimated the heat of the sauces when I ordered it with an 8 out of 9 heat rating. Surprising since everything else I’ve eaten in New Zealand seems to be pretty bland.
